We braved a trip to Iowa for my birthday because I really wanted to see my Grandma. I was prepared for the idea that the kids would be screaming/crying/pooping for the entire four hour trip. As it turned out, the kids were eerily good in the car.
Grandma was very happy to see her great grandkids. And they were very happy to see their great grandma. Alexander gave her about 900 hugs, and fortunately remembered “gentle touches” despite his excitement.
Alexander wanted to go to the park near GG’s house. He held his great grandma’s hand for most journey which yarred the livin’ daylights out of me.
There was a rather crumbly slide at the park that was a lot of fun. Hey, who wants snacks? Lead paint chips for everyone!
This “see-saw” is mis-learning our youth about basic physics.
It also teaches unrealistic expectations about the payload of pelicans. Oh well, they are having fun.
Good times all around.

So happy you had a great b'day visit to that wonderland of fun, Iowa. As a temporary Floridian, however, I am confused about the pelicans. We thought they were all here. Now they're in Iowa! Obviously, they've discovered what they've been missing and have beat us back to the slushy if not frozen North. Or maybe it was the great park job that lured them?
